Most parents who have sent their children off to school in a yellow school bus have spent at least a few minutes wondering or worrying about their children's safety on the road.
Several parents (all names of parents and children withheld for privacy reasons) had their fears realized Monday afternoon when a school bus carrying children in Warrenton, Oregon was struck by a pickup truck while trying to cross Highway 101.
Just before 4 p.m. the Warrenton School District Bus was struck by a Ford F-150. Oregon State Police are continuing the investigation and have not publicly announced fault as of the publishing of this blog entry.
What is known is that six children in the Oregon Coast auto accident / bus accident were taken to different hospitals for treatment. Injuries from car accidents range from small whiplash to shoulder or rotator cuff injuries to much worse. The extent of the injuries for the six children is unknown, although at least one was transported to Legacy Emanuel Center in Portland with what are believed to be serious injuries.
The driver of the pick up suffered injures in the accident but the bus driver apaprently did not.
More news will be published by the blog as it becomes available.
